These Are The Rudest Things You Can Do On A Flight, Expert Says
People standing up early on a landed planeI was pretty surprised to learn that flight attendants aren’t just being friendly when they greet you onto a plane – they’re also checking your sobriety, ability to help in an emergency and any additional needs. Some airline staff reportedly have secret codes for when they fancy a passenger too.But what about the etiquette we should follow as passengers? Plane rules might seem intuitive to those who spend hours on end in the sky, but according to Kim Deller, concierge executive at The Wedding Travel Company, many of us are missing the mark. Here are six of the rudest behaviours she sees from passengers all too often:1) Putting your feet on the seat Comfy as it might be, Deller considers this a cardinal sin.“The worst thing any passenger can do is put their feet on the seats,” she said.  “It’s unhygienic, unnecessary and impolite – and [it] shows a complete disregard for fellow passengers.”2) Taking off your shoes on a flight Not only is this a recipe for germ-y feet, but Deller thinks it’s also flat-out disrespectful to others on board. “Taking off your shoes and socks on an aircraft is a complete no-no. I’ve seen passengers walk barefoot around the cabin: yuck,” she wrote.3) Playing music or videos on your speakers“Another deeply annoying behaviour is using gadgets or devices without headphones,” the travel expert shared. After all, nobody else signed up to listen to your playlist. “You’re in a small space and everyone can hear you,” she said.4) Talking while safety announcements are going onThis is both unsafe and inconsiderate, the pro tells us. “Chatting with fellow passengers during the all-important safety demo is disrespectful to the staff and other passengers who may want to hear,” she stated.“After all, should an incident occur, this information could save your life.”5) Standing as soon as the plane landsThis is a personal pet peeve of mine, so I’m glad the travel guru agrees. “There’s really no rush to stand up ready to disembark before the aircraft has come to a complete stop at the gate on arrival,” Deller decreed. “It’s dangerous and unnecessary; always remain in your seat. If you have bags in the hold, they can take some time to appear on the conveyor belt, so it doesn’t make sense to try to be the first off the aircraft.” 6) Reclining seats without checking first It’s plain rude, she commented.Calling the faux pas “my biggest bugbear and no doubt one which many will agree with,” Deller said that “the reclining of seats... without at least checking if it’s ok with the passenger behind” is unforgivable. Pretty hard to disagree with any of those, isn’t it?Related...I’m A Flight Attendant — This Is The Worst Part Of A Plane To Sit InPatrick Warburton is Right – 'Raw Dogging' Flights Is MasochisticI'm a Flight Attendant — Here's The Most Secure Place To Park At The Airport
