This Foundation And Primer Duo Has Changed The Game For My Oily Skin

Oh, and FYI – prices are accurate and items in stock as of time of publication.I’ve always had a bit of a love/hate relationship with my skin. I’ve never struggled with serious acne or skin sensitivities, so I have plenty of blessings to count. But on the other hand, I’ve always had annoyingly oily skin and enlarged pores. I’m also prone to the occasional hormonal breakout. All this combined has meant that I’ve been on a long-lasting search for makeup that’s buildable for those blemishes, blurring for my pores, and long-lasting despite the oil. I don’t love super-thick, matte, full-coverage foundations – instead, I’ve been looking for that holy grail combination in a formula that can also give me a subtle glow. It’s a tall order, I know, but I’ve used some really fantastic foundations and primers in my years as a lifestyle journalist that have come super close to fitting that bill. And now dear reader, I’m here to tell you that I’ve found a new primer and foundation duo that has blown them all away. The Milani Conceal + Perfect Blur Out Smoothing Primer and the Conceal + Perfect 2 in 1 Foundation are total game-changers for me. The foundation is buildable and blurring, and both products are oil-friendly, super long-lasting, and feel utterly dreamy on my skin. The first time I wore them both, my best friend said I was “glowing”.This happened to be at my most recent birthday party, where, suffice to say, I’d enjoyed a few beverages and stayed up until the wee small hours.I’m not proud of it, but I slept in my makeup that night. And when I woke up the next morning, I was admittedly a bit oilier, but my foundation had barely budged. In these photos, you can see my face without anything but skincare on, then just the primer, then less than one pump of foundation (more on that later), then with a full face of makeup, including another half pump used under my eyes to conceal that area further. I let that final part sit on my skin for about five minutes before I blended it, and I’m really happy with the results.Full disclosure, my full face here also includes: a light dusting of Kosas Cloud Set Baked Setting & Smoothing Powder (shade Breezy), Milani’s Fruit Fetish Lip Oil (shade Coco Cacao), Max Factor Colour Elixir Lip Liner (shade Brown n Bold), No7 Pro Artist Matte Muse Lipstick (shade Rose Couture), No7 Pro Artist Luxe Liquid Blush (shade Taupe), Glossier Boy Brow (shade Black), and a couple colours from the Morphe 9T Neutral Territory Artistry Eyeshadow Palette.I’d also used the Urban Decay All Nighter Hylauronic Setting Spray and Kosas powder to set my face before my party, just like I always do when I’m off out.Usually, I bring my trusty Kosas compact in my purse too, and reapply it to my nose regularly throughout the night if and when shine breaks through. I’ll also use some tissue to dab at my T-zone periodically, because I don’t want to be packing the tinted powder onto my skin all night. Even with all the merriment that evening, I only powdered my nose once between 7pm and 4am, and that was more out of habit than anything else. There was also a lot lessneed for my usual tissue-dabbing.My one tiny critique of the foundation (which I use in shade 00B Light Clair) is that it’s very easy to apply more than you bargain for, thanks to its dual function as a concealer and foundation. But that said, it’s also so easy to blend it out and into my skin for a more subtle, everyday look if I apply less than a pump. And a great benefit of this is that it’ll take ages to get through a whole bottle of the stuff. As for the primer, while it doesn’t exactly make my pores disappear, it’s super mattifying when I put it on – without dulling my skin. As it bakes into my skin, I feel like the visual difference between before and after application lessens – its real power lies in helping to control the oil for hours upon hours, and in helping the foundation stick to my face.I was worried it would pile on my skin like a lot of other blurring primers I’ve tried, but this is the perfect base for all my makeup. At £17.50 for the Conceal + Perfect Blur Out Smoothing Primer and £15.50 for the Conceal + Perfect 2 in 1 Foundation, you best believe I will be a repeat customer. Related...Earlier Mammograms Can Save Lives – Here's How To Get One Before You Turn 50We Shop The Best Beauty Products For A Living, And These 7 Truly Wowed UsThis Budget-Friendly K-Beauty Glossy Lip Tint Is A Staple In My Makeup Bag
