Trump And Russia Finally Admit What The Rest Of The West Already Suspected
President Donald Trump and Russia's President Vladimir Putin talk, Friday, Aug. 15, 2025, at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska. Both Donald Trump and one of Vladimir Putin’s ministers have finally admitted to what the rest of the West has known for while: that their supposed friendship is not going to help end the Ukraine war any time soon. The US president was quick to revive his warm relationship with the Russian tyrant once he returned to the White House earlier this year.Trump offered to end the Ukraine war on Putin’s terms by demilitarising Ukraine and forcing it to hand its occupied territories over to the aggressor. He then rolled out the red carpet for Putin in Alaska back in August, arranging a rare face-to-face meeting with the pariah. The US president confidently told allies: “I think he wants to make a deal for me, you understand that? As crazy as it sounds.”Less than two months later, Putin is still finding obstacles to any peace talks.According to European Pravda, Trump admitted at a meeting with Canadian prime minister Mark Carney this week that the three-year war is actually not that easy to resolve after all.Trump said: “I thought that would have been one of the easy ones.“I get along very well with Putin and I thought that would have been... I’m very disappointed in him because I thought this would have been an easy one to settle, but it turned out to be maybe tougher than the Middle East.”The US president is determined to secure a Nobel Peace Prize and so is pushing for peace both in Ukraine and in Gaza, by any means possible. And it seems one of Putin’s top ministers has confirmed Trump’s concerns. Russian deputy foreign minister Sergey Ryabkov admitted any “powerful momentum” for a peace deal, built up by the Alaska summit, has evaporated. He said: “Unfortunately, it must be acknowledged that the powerful momentum from Anchorage toward reaching agreements has, through the efforts of opponents and supporters of the ‘war to the last Ukrainian’ – primarily among Europeans – been largely exhausted.”Naturally, the Russian official adopted the usual Kremlin tactic and blamed Europe. He said: “This is the result of the destructive actions primarily by Europeans, which we speak about openly and directly.”According to Russian state news agency TASS, Trump did not wish Putin a happy birthday on Tuesday, when the authoritarian turned 73 – even though Putin called Trump when the US president turned 79 on June 14.Seeing as their friendship has failed to get Ukraine any closer to peace, Trump now has to decide how to move forward with Putin.Does he finally act on his threats to ramp up sanctions on Russia, or does he push ahead and give more weapons to Ukraine?Related...Donald Trump Had A Very Predictable Reaction To Bad Bunny's Super Bowl Announcement And... *Sigh*2 Key Democrats Come Out And Say It: Trump Has 'Some Kind Of Dementia'Donald Trump Jr. Throws Tantrum About Fox News
