Trump Boasts About Having ‘Everything’ During Speech For Fallen Service Members

President Donald Trump suggested on Monday that his two terms in the White House had moved in mysterious ways as he addressed thousands of veterans on Memorial Day.Delivering remarks at Arlington National Cemetery, Trump mused on how he is only in the White House for the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles and the 2026 World Cup in North America, as well as next year’s events to mark the US signing the Declaration of Independence 250 years ago, because he “missed that second term.”Joe Biden beat Trump in the 2020 elections. If Trump had won then, he would have left office by now, having served the two-term limit set by the US Constitution.Trump added that after winning a second four-year term last year, “I have everything,” and his good fortune can be credited to a higher power. “God did that,” he told the crowd.The bullish comments came while speaking at the cemetery’s amphitheatre, typically a sombre occasion for US presidents.Trump honoured fallen service members at the ceremony, calling them “great, great warriors” who were “America’s best and bravest.”His speech also took a political detour, referring to the republic “that I am fixing after a long and hard four years” and “people pouring through our borders unchecked.”As his prepared remarks alighted on next year’s 250th anniversary, Trump appeared to stray off the script.“In some ways, I’m glad I missed that second term where it was because I wouldn’t be your president for that most important of all [250th anniversary celebration],” he said, before adding the World Cup and the Olympics to the list of big events coming up.He added, “I missed that four years, and now look what I have. I have everything. Amazing the way things work out.”As the crowd applauded, Trump said: “God did that. I believe that.”Ahead of the event, Trump took to social media to launch an all-caps invective aimed at judges, Democrats and migrants.In the Truth Social post, Trump wished a “happy Memorial Day to all” before laying into “scum” and “monsters.”Trump: We have the World Cup and we have the Olympics.
