Trump Melts Down Over ‘Crazed Lunatic’ Democrats In Escalating Confirmation Feud

US President Donald Trump speaks to reporters near Air Force One at the the Lehigh Valley International Airport on August 03, 2025 US President Donald Trump called Senate Democrats “crazed lunatics” while claiming they are delaying his nominees in exchange for money. “Democrats, lead by Cryin’ Chuck Schumer, are slow walking my Nominees, more than 150 of them,” Trump wrote in a fiery Truth Social post on Sunday night, naming the Senate Democratic leader from New York. “They wanted us to pay, originally, two billion dollars for approvals. The Dems are CRAZED LUNATICS!!!” the post continued, possibly referring to reports that Democrats asked Republican leaders to release billions of dollars of government funds in exchange for a vote on some of the president’s nominees.Trump’s comments came after he praised Republican senators for “fighting” to get his nominees confirmed by the upper chamber. “Very proud of our great Republican Senators for fighting, over the Weekend and far beyond, if necessary, in order to get my great Appointments approved, and on their way to helping us MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN,” Trump wrote in a separate Truth Social post on Saturday. The president went on to accuse the “Radical Left Democrat Senators” of “doing everything possible to DELAY these wonderful and talented people from being approved.” “If George Washington or Abraham Lincoln were up for approval, the Dems would delay, as long as possible, then vote them out,” he continued. Alleging that “the Democrats want our Country to fail, because they have failed,” Trump added, “Thank you to Senator John Thune and our Republican Warriors in the Senate. Fight and WIN. I am with you all the way!!!” On Saturday, the Senate took off for a monthlong August recess without reaching a deal on advancing dozens of nominees. The move, which has caused tensions between Senate Democrats and the White House, sent Trump spiraling, prompting him to tell Schumer to “GO TO HELL” in another post on Truth Social. Meanwhile, Schumer has voiced support for the Democratic Party’s handling of Trump’s nominees. In a post on X, formerly Twitter, Saturday, Schumer said, “Historically bad nominees deserve historic levels of scrutiny.” “We have never seen nominees as flawed, as compromised, as unqualified as Trump’s,” Schumer wrote. “And they know that.” Schumer also responded to Trump’s heated social media commentary with a video in an additional post on X. “Donald Trump attempted to steamroll the Senate to put in place his historically unqualified nominees, but Senate Democrats wouldn’t let him,” Schumer said while standing at a lectern. “In a fit of rage, Trump threw in the towel, sent Republicans home, and was unable to do the basic work of negotiating. Is this the ‘art of the deal’?”He added: “Trump tried to bully us, go around us, threaten us, call us names, but he got nothing.
