Trump Still Found Time To Complain Even As The UK Rolled Out The Red Carpet During His State Visit
President Donald Trump gestures next to Britain's King Charles III before leaving Windsor Castle, Windsor, England, Thursday, Sept. 18, 2025. Donald Trump’s state visit may not have gone as smoothly as initially thought, according to new reports which suggest the president got rather bored during his royal tour. The US president allegedly moaned that he had “had enough” of being “shown beautiful things” by the end of his whirlwind 48-hour trip to the UK last week.According to the Mirror, Trump then promised King Charles he would not “drag” him around Washington’s monuments when he visits the US.Behind closed doors, the president allegedly told tech industry leaders at Chequers: “I’ve had a great time, I’ve seen so many beautiful things. I’ve seen a lot of beautiful things. Like, a lot.“I was taken round Windsor Castle and seen some beautiful things. I’ve been taken round Chequers and seen some beautiful things. I have seen every memorial and they’re beautiful but now I’ve had enough.”Turning to the King, he reportedly said: “You know what? I’m going to treat you to a state dinner, you can come to the US and I’m not going to drag you round the Lincoln Memorial. You can just have dinner and then go to bed.”The complaint may have come as a surprise to the government, considering they rolled out the red carpet for the Trump’s “unprecedented” second state visit in a bid to keep the mercurial figure on side.No expense was spared for the royal-loving president, who was permitted to ride in a gold carriage around Windsor Castle grounds, presented with unusually large military displays and shown around the monarch’s property.A specially curated exhibition was prepared for him of all the historical items linked to the US. He was also given a tour of Chequers and of the house’s Winston Churchill archive. All this effort seemed to pay off when Trump avoided going on any kind of rant during his joint press conference with Keir Starmer as they unveiled a new tech deal and he kept their disagreements to a minimum. But the president appeared to drop this demeanour days later at the UN, by claiming in a rambling speech that the Labour mayor Sadiq Khan had left London “so changed” and falsely claimed he was trying to introduce “Sharia Law” into the capital.Trump also criticised the government, saying immigration was ruining Europe, and that Starmer should open more oil fields in the North Sea as climate change is a “hoax”.Responding to the Mirror’s report, Lib Dem culture spokesperson Max Wilkinson said: “Well, that’s gratitude for you! Perhaps next time we should offer him a tour of the local spray tan studio and a Happy Meal.”Related...Trump Has Petty Dig At Biden As White House ‘Walk Of Fame’ UnveiledTrump Gets Instant Fact Check Over 'Proud' Brag At The UN: 'Does He Just Not Know?'Sadiq Khan Tears Into Trump After President's Attack: 'He Is Racist, Sexist And Islamophobic'
