Trump Uses 1 Rather Bizarre Word As He Ponders Why 'Everyone Hates Russia'
President Donald Trump seemed confused as to why "everybody hates Russia".Donald Trump has claimed that it is “strange” that everyone “hates Russia” now – apparently ignoring Vladimir Putin’s brutal invasion of Ukraine.Speaking at a White House press conference on Thursday, the US president recalled a conversation he had with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron about the end of World War 2.“I said, ‘You’re celebrating our victory?’ He said, ‘Yes.’ I said, “Your victory?’” Trump recalled.“And then I spoke to President Putin at the time. He lost 51 million people. He fought with us in World War II. Russia did fight. It’s interesting, isn’t it? It fought with us in World War II, and everyone hates it.“And now everybody hates Russia and loves Germany and Japan. It’s a strange world.”The US president also claimed Putin – who has been threatening Ukraine’s allies for years now – told Trump he was confused why the west was now hostile towards Russia.Trump claimed his Russian counterpart told him: “We were your ally. Now everybody hates Russia.”The president appeared to be overlooking Putin’s brutal invasion of Ukraine over the last three years, which has been the largest armed conflict on the European continent since the end of World War 2.Moscow has repeatedly pointed to that conflict to explain away its land grab in Ukraine, baselessly accusing Kyiv of being run by neo-Nazis and leaning on Soviet-era claims of heroism to justify its attack.Trump also overlooked the Cold War where the Soviet Union was in a standoff with the US from just after World War 2 until the regime collapsed in 1991.The US president promised to end the Ukraine conflict within 24 hours of returning to the White House for his second term.Almost five months later, and the war is raging as Russia continues to hold onto 18% of land – even though its army has reportedly reached a million losses.Trump has tried to force both sides to end the war, often overlooking Russia’s role as the aggressor, and offering to end the war on Putin’s terms.Despite threatening to do so, he is yet to impose more sanctions on Russia, even as Putin drags his heels over peace negotiations with Ukraine. In late May, the US president said: “If I think I’m close to getting a deal, I don’t want to screw it up by doing that.”He claimed he would act if Putin was no closer to a peace agreement in the next fortnight. That was over two weeks ago.Related...Putin Ally Can't Even Explain Own Bizarre Theory About West's Ongoing Support For UkraineVladimir Putin Will Be Able To Attack The West 'Within Five Years', Says Nato ChiefRussian Forces Have Sustained A Million Losses In Ukraine War, UK Says
