US Embassy Says What Trump Won't After Russia's Most Brutal Ukraine Attack Yet

Firefighters put out the fire after a Russian missile hit a residential building during Russia's massive missile and drone air attack in Kyiv, Ukraine, Tuesday, June 17, 2025.A US Embassy has spoken out against Russia’s latest strikes on Ukraine after Donald Trump refused to comment on the brutal attack.Vladimir Putin ordered a huge missile and drone strike on Kyiv on Monday, killing at least 23 people, including one US citizen, and injuring more than 130 others across nine hours.According to Ukraine, its troops managed to down 428 of Russia’s 472 aerial weapons but residential areas were still hit. When approached for comment more than two hours after the strikes on Tuesday, Trump told reporters: “When was that? When?”After being told it was “very recently”, he replied: “Just now? You mean as I’m walking back to see you, that’s when it took place? Sounds like it. I’ll have a look at it.”A day later and the White House is yet to issue a response to the strikes. But the US Embassy in Ukraine did issue a statement on Tuesday, expressing the sorrow Trump failed to show.It said: “Today, with all of Ukraine, we join a day of mourning in Kyiv for the victims of Russia’s June 17 attack.“We extend deepest condolences to the victims’ families. This senseless attack runs counter to President Trump’s call to stop the killing and end the war.”Today, with all of Ukraine, we join a day of mourning in Kyiv for the victims of Russia’s June 17 attack. 21 dead, including an American.
