White House Drops ‘Cringe’ Nato Supercut With Donald Trump And Usher’s ‘Hey Daddy'

APThe Trump White House on Wednesday shared a highlights reel montage promoting President Donald Trump’s recent trip to the Nato summit in The Netherlands, which was set to R&B star Usher’s 2010 song “Hey Daddy (Daddy’s Home).”The track choice appeared to refer to Nato Secretary General Mark Rutte’s line about “Daddy” discipline — while talking about the Iran and Israel cease-fire — during a press conference with Trump.“Daddy has to sometimes use strong language,” Rutte said, an apparent response to Trump’s “they don’t know what the fuck they’re doing” comment after the cease-fire between the two countries briefly collapsed earlier this week.On X, the White House captioned the Trump-Usher video: “Daddy’s home… Hey, hey, hey, Daddy,” which are lyrics in the song.Usher has not publicly commented on the use of his song. A representative did not immediately respond to HuffPost’s request for comment.Usher, though, before the 2016 election donned a shirt emblazoned with the message “Don’t Trump America” at the BET Awards. He also appeared alongside Trump’s Democratic rival Kamala Harris for her 2024 campaign.Usher wore a shirt that read "Don't Trump America" for his performance at the 2016 BET Awards.Trump supporters praised the White House post, with some on social media hailing what they described as “the funniest White House ever.”But critics called it “so cringe,” “embarrassing,” “one of the weirder things I’ve seen from this account” and “idiocracy taken to the next level.”Referring to Trump as “Daddy” has become quite the thing among conservatives. Representatives Lauren Boebert (Republican, Colorado) and Byron Donalds (Republican, Florida) have both done so.
