We should never acknowledge the whisper. Never. Never’,” he recalled. “I wanted it to feel like we didn’t care about it, then suddenly it’s the last shot in For Good.“So the studio never saw that final shot. I imposed a huge thing: ‘Do not show this shot!’ They wanted it so badly.”Jon went on to admit that even he’s not sure what Ariana whispered to Cynthia on set that day, as he wanted it to be a private moment between the two women.“That poster is one of the most brilliant posters ever made. You don’t know what Glinda’s saying, because they never actually do that in the musical. But it’s sort of the key to friendship. That we have these secrets,” he insisted.“And [Cynthia and Ariana] got to choose what they are actually saying in the scene. I don’t even know what they said.”While the original Wicked poster obscures much of Elphaba and Glinda’s faces, the recreation for the movie featured Cynthia looking straight at the camera, prompting some fans to create their own versions using AI and digital technology. However, this sparked an upset response from the British actor, who claimed such edits were “the wildest, most offensive thing I have seen” in the lead-up to Wicked’s release.Wicked For Good is in cinemas now.READ MORE:Wicked Writer Discusses 'Too Romantic' Deleted Scene That Would Have Changed The FilmWicked For Good's Most Heartbreaking Scene Was Actually Totally ImprovisedWe Can't Get Enough Of The Wicked For Good Cast's Epic Behind-The-Scenes Snaps
