Wicked Star Marissa Bode Blasts 'Fan' Who Charged At Ariana Grande During Premiere
Wicked stars Cynthia Erivo, Ariana Grande and Marissa Bode at a Q&A event last yearWicked For Good star Marissa Bode is speaking out in support of her co-star Ariana Grande, after a clip of a supposed “fan” charging towards the Eternal Sunshine singer at the film’s recent red carpet premiere in Singapore went viral.Earlier this week, footage was shared online of Ariana walking the Wicked red carpet with fellow cast members Cynthia Erivo and Michelle Yeoh when a man leapt over the barrier and put his arms around the Grammy winner, jumping up and down.In the moment, Cynthia immediately stepped in to separate Ariana and the man in question – who has been identified as Johnson Wen, known to his online followers as “Pyjama Man” – at which point he was removed from security.Cynthia Erivo protects Ariana Grande from a ‘Wicked: For Good’ premiere attendee. pic.twitter.com/XQBeQJWZsI— Pop Base (@PopBase) November 13, 2025The footage has since been widely shared online, with most people expressing sympathy for Ariana and praising Cynthia for the way she thought fast to defend her friend and colleague. However, in a TikTok post shared on Thursday evening, Marissa had a message for those defending the man in question as “a fan” of Ariana’s.“OK, then they’re a fan and a loser,” she insisted. “Because what we’re not about to do is make a woman whose space was invaded [the villain].“Mind you I’ve talked about this in detail and further extent before on this page, about parasociality, especially at things like concerts or just when someone in the public eye is at an event… like, people throwing shit on stage mid-performance or people yelling loudly out of turn at concerts, during a sad or slower song, just for attention.“And this is what I mean when I say social media brings out the worst in people. ‘Oh did you get your views? Did you get your likes?’. Guess what you also did? You made somebody feel incredibly unsafe, but just… but [you] just [have] no remorse. That goes over you head. You’re a bad person.”Ariana Grande at the Wicked For Good premiere in SingaporeMarissa continued: “I don’t think women, or really anybody, should be expected to move with grace or respond with kindness when they’ve been violated in that way. And to expect that makes you a weirdo also.“The thing is, most of the time, women within the public eye do respond with kindness because they know what the result is going to be if they don’t. It’s going to be dog-piling. It’s going to be people calling them rude. Even when their frustration or anger or whatever it may be is beyond valid.”@marissa_edobThis is about the experiences of most women in Hollywood btw.
