Cynthia Erivo in character as Elphaba in Wicked For GoodWith a film as elaborate and expansive as Wicked, there are always going to be a few moments that wind up on the cutting room floor, with screenwriter Dana Fox shedding light on one of those scenes during a recent interview.Speaking to Deadline about the newly-released sequel Wicked For Good, Fox insisted: “I don’t think there’s anything that I wish we hadn’t cut because everything we cut, I felt we cut for exactly the right reasons.”However, she did share that there were some “beautiful scenes” that she hoped might one day resurface as bonus content for fans in some capacity. This included one “romantic” scene between Ariana Grande and Jonathan Bailey that she said could have completely changed how we viewers see the relationship between their characters Glinda and Fieryo.Jonathan Bailey and Ariana Grande in Wicked For Good“There is a scene that I don’t know if it will be [made public],” Fox said. “There was a scene between Fiyero and Glinda that we cut in which they kissed; it was romantic and beautiful, but a little too passionate.“Seeing that made it too hard to watch him make the choice he makes to be with Elphaba and made it too hard to make it OK that Elphaba ran off with him. It was too real that he and Glinda were actually feeling something together.”Screenwriter Dana Fox at the Wicked For Good premiereFox continued: “It was like a feeling that he really did love her, which he does care about Glinda a lot, don’t get me wrong. But he likes her in a different way.“But this scene was too romantic, so it was like, ‘Oh, we can’t know that because then our brains will explode when he doesn’t choose her in the end. And then we’ll hate Elphaba, Glinda and Fiyero’.“So, I think it was a good cut because it was too adorable that you simply couldn’t handle it.”Meanwhile, cast member Cynthia Erivo recently opened up about one of the film’s most heartbreaking scenes – revealing that she and co-star Ariana actually improvised it in the moment, only for it to wind up in the finished film.Wicked For Good is in cinemas now.READ MORE:Wicked For Good's Most Heartbreaking Scene Was Actually Totally ImprovisedCynthia Erivo Breaks Silence After Protecting Ariana Grande At Wicked Premiere11 Cynthia Erivo Roles You'd Probably Forgotten She Played Before Wicked
