Will There Be A Thursday Murder Club Sequel On Netflix? Here's What We Know

Celia Imrie, Dame Helen Mirren, Naomi Ackie, Pierce Brosnan and Sir Ben Kingsley in The Thursday Murder ClubThe Thursday Murder Club has already proved to be a big hit for Netflix just days after its release.After premiering on – when else? – Thursday, the movie adaptation of Richard Osman’s best-selling cosy mystery novel shot to the top of Netflix UK’s list most-watched films, undoubtedly helped along by its stellar A-list cast, led by Dame Helen Mirren, Pierce Brosnan, Sir Ben Kingsley and Celia Imrie.But The Thursday Murder Club is only the first instalment in the book series by the former Pointless host, the latest of which is due later this year.So, the question now remains… what are the chances of those books being adapted by Netflix in a Thursday Murder Club sequel?Will The Thursday Murder Club get a sequel on Netflix?At the moment, the streaming service is yet to make an official announcement about the future of the Thursday Murder Club series.However, in the past, Netflix has been known to turn some of its flagship feature films into franchises, including Enola Holmes, Fear Street and To All The Boys  I’ve Loved Before (a follow-up to KPop Demon Hunters, which recently broke the record for Netflix’s most popular original film ever, is also tipped to be in the works), so it certainly isn’t beyond the realm of possibility.Speaking to Film Stories, director Chris Columbus admitted that “all signs seem to point” to “a sequel or the next chapter” in the Thursday Murder Club story.He also told The Mirror when asked about a sequel: “Time will tell.
