Zoë Kravitz Insults Sex And The City Spin-Off To Austin Butler – Not Realising He Was In It
Zoë Kravitz and Austin ButlerZoë Kravitz accidentally wound up insulting one of Austin Butler’s earliest roles to his face, without realising he was part of the show in question. The Caught Stealing co-stars recently took part in Vanity Fair’s lie detector video series, where they asked each other probing questions.Once Zoë was hooked up to the polygraph machine, Austin pointed out that she is a known devotee of Sex And The City, before asking whether she thought And Just Like That or The Carrie Diaries was the better spin-off.“Neither,” she deadpanned in response. When Austin asked her more information, she continued: “Leave that show alone, everybody. Just stop.”As Austin then tossed away some of his follow-up questions, Zoë had a quick realisation, asking: “What is it? Oh no! Are you on that show? I’m so… OK. Sorry. I didn’t know that.”Indeed, long before the world knew him for roles in the likes of Elvis, Once Upon A Time In Hollywood and Dune: Part Two, Austin played a young Carrie Bradshaw’s first boyfriend in the oft-overlooked prequel series The Carrie Diaries.Starring AnnaSophia Robb in the lead role, The Carrie Diaries was a teen drama set years before the events of Sex And The City, focussing on Carrie Bradshaw’s high school years and her first internship at Interview magazine. The show ran for two seasons between 2013 and 2014, with the second run introducing Lindsey Gort as Samantha Jones, the character popularised by Kim Cattrall in Sex And The City.Austin Butler and AnnaSophia Robb on the set of The Carrie Diaries in 2013Sarah Jessica Parker previously claimed she had mixed feelings about the spin-off, telling Net-A-Porter in 2013: “I’m not sure… you know, I think it’s one of those tests of your generosity. [AnnaSophia Robb] is a lovely girl and I want her to feel good about it, but it’s… odd.”Meanwhile, follow-up series And Just Like That came to an end last month, with fans not exactly thrilled about the way things played out in the finale. This apparently includes Zoë herself, who claimed later in her Vanity Fair interview: “I feel mixed feelings about [it ending]. ‘Favourite’ is a word I don’t think I can use for that show. There are some plotlines that confused me more than others. There were plotlines that made me more upset than others.”For those curious folks who never saw The Carrie Diaries for the first time around, both seasons are currently streaming on ITVX.READ MORE:Sarah Jessica Parker Has A 4-Word Message For And Just Like That HatersSarah Jessica Parker Defends This 1 Controversial Part Of The And Just Like That FinaleAnd Just Like That Boss Explains Why The Finale Had To Include That 1 Gross-Out Scene
