Far-right AfD wins German state election but majority uncertain
Exit polls show the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) winning the Saxony-Anhalt state election with 44.5% of the vote. The result could mark the first time a far-right party has gained power at a regional or parliamentary level in Germany since World War II, though its ability to form a government remains unclear.
