Turkish Referee Board Chief Ferhat Gündoğdu Resigns

Ferhat Gündoğdu has resigned as head of the Central Referee Board (MHK). His resignation letter was sent to the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) through his lawyers. Gündoğdu was detained in the investigation into alleged manipulation of referee appointments, referred to court with other suspects and remains in custody. Leaked communications and an audio recording in the case had already made his position untenable, and the TFF had set up interim referee appointments for the Turkish Cup matches. After his arrest, such a move had been widely expected.
