Marathon-running monk on the ancient wisdom useful in everyday life – video

Brahmacharini Shripriya Chaitanya, a Hindu monk based in the UK, has shared with us three teachings rooted in ancient wisdom that she is using to get her through one of the biggest physical challenges she has faced – the London marathon. The 35-year-old, who has never even done a 10k before, says she wants to challenge stereotypes of what it means to be a female monk, and also highlight how ancient teachings and modern challenges can coexist and inspire transformation. She believes Vedantic teachings of meditation and mindfulness in our everyday lives in ways 'that are applicable and practical for anyone in the world today.' Brahmacharini Shripriya is taking part in the 26.2-mile race on Sunday to fundraise for and pay tribute to the work done by Chinmaya Mission, a Hindu religious and spiritual organisation whose goal is to give 'maximum happiness to maximum people for maximum time'.
