Five Scottish islands to escape to this spring

Spring is still in full flow, but you don’t need to wait until summer for a gorgeous island break in Scotland. The weather in the isles in my experience can often be glorious in spring and you don’t have the pesky midge to deal with. You will also have to battle less with the crowds. Most hotels and attractions open at the latest for the easter holidays so you get the best of both worlds. Think empty beaches, seabirds who don’t yet feel the need to divebomb you, and a life-affirming shimmering of spring wildflowers. What are you waiting for?
