Epstein survivors release new letter detailing death threats

A group of nearly 30 Jeffrey Epstein survivors said Friday that they have received death threats amid the ongoing push to release investigation files linked to the convicted sex offender. The big picture: The letter, titled "What We're Bracing For," is their latest call to action after President Trump signed a bill requiring the Justice Department to release all files related to Epstein earlier this week. Zoom in: In the statement, 18 named survivors and 10 Jane Does, said they are preparing to be blamed for abuse they endured and are already facing threats to their physical safety — which they expect will intensify as the deadline to release the files draws closer. The survivors stressed that they support full disclosure of the files and urged Congress and the public to fight alongside them. What they're saying: "We ask every federal and state law enforcement agency that has jurisdiction over these threats to investigate them and protect us," they said. They also said they refuse to engage with attacks to minimize or discredit their abuse based on their age or the circumstances that led to their assault allegations. The survivors said in their statement that they all "were vulnerable because of life circumstances" and "were targeted." "We reject any claim that once a girl turned 18 she was fair game," they added.Of note: Several roadblocks, including the Epstein Files Transparency Act, could allow the Justice Department to delay the release of or heavily redact the files. The DOJ did not immediately respond to Axios' request for comment.Go deeper: Epstein survivors issue plea to Congress to release files ahead of floor vote
