France Abandons Mandatory Plastic Bottle Deposit Scheme for Local Authorities

The French government has abandoned plans to impose a mandatory plastic bottle deposit scheme on local authorities. Instead, a voluntary, localized system will be proposed, following opposition from elected officials.
