France protests draw 320,000 by official count and nearly 500,000 by unions

The Interior Ministry counted 320,000 protesters across France on Oct. 31, while unions estimated nearly 500,000. Authorities reported 296 arrests by 6 p.m., with clashes in several cities late in the afternoon.
