Iran launches major retaliatory strike on Israel
Iran launched a counterattack against Israel on Friday, firing around 150 missiles in the first two barrages with a third wave now incoming, according to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).Why it matters: This is the most significant Iranian retaliation thus far. It comes 18 hours after Israel launched a war against Iran, attacking its nuclear facilities and missile sites and killing dozens of top military leaders and nuclear scientists. Driving the news: Minutes before 9pm local time, sirens went off across Israel warning of the incoming attack. Israeli missile defense systems launched dozens of Arrow missiles to try and intercept the incoming attack. U.S. troops are also helping Israel to intercept incoming missiles, an Israeli official said.Multiple Iranian missiles hit central Tel Aviv according to eye witnesses and videos shared online.Israeli emergency services said 15 people had been confirmed wounded.
