Istanbul Opens 83 New Schools for 2026-2027 Academic Year, Reducing Double Shifts

Istanbul will begin the 2026-2027 academic year with 83 new schools and 2,210 classrooms. This expansion has reduced the rate of schools operating double shifts from 26% to 18%. Construction is ongoing for 130 schools, with 160 more in the planning stages.
