America's political leaders gathered at the National Cathedral on Thursday to pay respects to the late Vice President Dick Cheney.The big picture: Cheney, vice president to former President George W. Bush, was a pivotal figure as America responded to the 9/11 terrorist attacks and throughout the subsequent wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.Cheney died on Nov. 4 from complications of pneumonia and cardiac and vascular disease. He was 84. Attendees included Bush, former President Biden, former Vice President Kamala Harris, former Vice President Mike Pence, former Vice President Dan Quayle and Supreme Court Justices Clarence Thomas and John Roberts.President Trump and Vice President Vance were not invited, per Reuters.Trump had a long-running feud with Cheney's daughter, former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.), who voted to impeach Trump following the Jan. 6 riot.
