Scoop: Bondi helps secure extradition of fertility clinic bombing suspect to U.S. from Poland
During a trip to Poland, Attorney General Pam Bondi helped ensure the expulsion of a suspect charged Wednesday in a deadly car bomb attack on a California fertility clinic, Axios has learned. Why it matters: The May 18 car-bombing of the clinic, which killed the chief suspect, was one of the highest-profile attacks yet by what authorities say is a rising movement of people opposed to in-vitro fertilization clinics."Bringing chaos and violence to a facility that exists to help women and mothers is a particularly cruel, disgusting crime that strikes at the very heart of our shared humanity," Bondi said in a statement to Axios.Zoom in: Bondi was in Poland this week for an international meeting of attorneys general. Poland is where alleged bomb-making suspect Daniel Jongyon Park had fled to four days after the attack on the Palm Springs clinic.Park had been detained two weeks in Poland and was later ordered removed from that country. Bondi helped arrange that.Catch up quick: The bombing attack killed Park's alleged co-conspirator, Guy Edward Bartkus, who was identified in a criminal complaint unsealed Wednesday as a suicide bomber. Four others were injured in the blast.Park was flown Wednesday to New York and formally charged with providing and attempting to provide material support to terrorists. He is to be flown next to California to stand trial in the jurisdiction of the crime.
