Sinclair won't broadcast Kimmel's show despite it returning to ABC

Sinclair splans to continue pre-empting "Jimmy Kimmel Live," despite the fact that ABC said it plans to bring back the program on Tuesday.Why it matters: Sinclair is exploring a possible divestiture of its local broadcast stations, which it would need regulatory approval for.What they're saying: "Beginning Tuesday night, Sinclair will be preempting Jimmy Kimmel Live! across our ABC affiliate stations and replacing it with news programming," the network said in a Monday evening statement."Discussions with ABC are ongoing as we evaluate the show's potential return."What to watch: It's unclear whether Nexstar, which was the first local affiliate group to say it would pull the program from its lineup last week, will follow in Sinclair's footsteps.
