Trump not looking at taking stake in Nvidia, Bessent says

The Trump administration has no plans to pursue a stake in Nvidia, but does intend to invest in industrial companies, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said Wednesday.Why it matters: The White House has made clear this week it intends to take positions in companies across the economy, as it did with Intel. But those plans have also created uncertainty for investors about who would be targeted and how much existing shareholders would be diluted.What they're saying: "I don't think Nvidia needs financial support. That seems not on the table right now — but could there be other industries where we're reshaping, something like shipbuilding, that, sure, there could be things like that," Bessent said in a Fox Business interview."These are critical industries that we have to, we have to be self-sufficient in the United States."Editor's note: This is breaking news.
