Alexander Skarsgård Gets Candid About Shooting 'Messy' Sex Scenes In 'Kinky' New Biker Romance

Alexander Skarsgård on the red carpet at the Cannes Film FestivalAlexander Skarsgård has lifted the lid on shooting some of the racier scenes in his new unconventional romance movie.The Swedish star appears opposite Harry Potter alum Harry Melling in Pillion, a new film detailing the love story between a shy wallflower and the leader of a biker bang who become embroiled in a BDSM-centric relationship.Much has already been made of the film’s intense sex scenes, with reviews generally praising Pillion and audiences giving it an eight-minute standing ovation when it premiered at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this week.Since then, Alexander has opened up to Deadline about what went into shooting the movie’s more intimate moments.“The sex scenes, the orgy scenes were very fun and playful,” he recalled “Robbie [Taylor Hunt, the film’s intimacy coordinator] was fantastic in helping because it got messy. There’s lots of people and lots of moving parts. But he was terrific in just orchestrating, choreographing it and also knowing when to step back and let us go with it and when to kind of step in. Those were exciting days, absolutely.”Harry added: “I think trust is the key word really, in terms of the scenes that Ray and Colin [the two characters portrayed by Alexander and himself] have. I found it personally very easy to trust someone like Alex. So yeah, the whole process felt very seamless and easy.“And obviously what they do, although it might be daunting to people on the outside looking in, it actually felt like we just every day would turn up and just try and say that story as accurately and as honestly as we could.”Harry Melling and Alexander Skarsgård in PIllionThe Queen’s Gambit actor continued: “I think the way that Harry [Lighton, the director] wanted to shoot those more sort of explicit scenes was done in such a clumsy, awkward way. It really helped the authenticity of it all, really. So yeah, it was a joy to do.”An official synopsis for Pillion has teased: “Colin, a weedy wallflower is letting life pass him by. That is until Ray, the impossibly handsome leader of a motorbike club, takes him on as his submissive. Ray uproots Colin from his dreary suburban life, introducing him to a community of kinky, queer bikers and taking all sorts of virginities along the way.“But as Colin steps deeper into Ray’s world of rules and mysteries, he begins to question whether the life of a 24/7 submissive is for him.
