Andrew Garfield Says He'd Only Return To Spider-Man Under 1 'Weird' Condition
Andrew Garfield as Spider-Man in The Amazing Spider-Man (2012)Spider-Man: Brand New Day is set to come out in theatres on 31 July this year, much to the excitement of Marvel fans. The upcoming release, starring Tom Holland, has led some to wonder whether former stars Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire (who joined Tom in 2021′s Spider-Man: No Way Home) are also set to return. But while Andrew shut down those rumours in 2024, he may have given lovers of the franchise new hope on Entertainment Tonight.Andrew GarfieldThe actor said, “I really loved playing Spider-Man. I would love to play the character again in some capacity, but I think it would have to be very weird.“I think I would like to do something very strange, I would want to do something very unique, and offbeat and surprising.” He also referenced the franchise’s animated creations, like the ever-delayed Spider-Man: Beyond The Spider-Verse. He said the ‘offbeat’ tone he likes is ‘kind of like the creative freedom they have with the animated ‘Spider-verse’ movies.’“I think they’re so great, and you can honour the character in so many ways through the multiverse,” Andrew continued.“That is the truth, and I know that I am going to be the boy who cried wolf forever.”View this post on InstagramA post shared by ET بالعربي (@etbilarabi)The actor had previously told Esquire: “I would 100% come back if it was the right thing, if it’s additive to the culture, if there’s a great concept or something that hasn’t been done before that’s unique and odd and exciting and that you can sink your teeth into.” Some may be left to wonder whether that means the actor will have a place in the animated movie Beyond The Spider-Verse’s ever-shifting future. But until 2027 (or later, if the movie, which would be out already if all had gone according to plan, is delayed once more) is released, we’ll only be able to speculate.Related...Andrew Garfield And Goldie Hawn Share Beautiful Moment As He Opens Up About Late Mum At The OscarsSorry, Spider-Man Fans ― Andrew Garfield Has More Bad NewsTom Holland Has Just Revealed When Spider-Man 4 Will Start Filming
