Catherine Zeta-Jones Opens Up About Taking Her Children On Holiday To Butlin's
Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas pictured together last yearJust because their parents are Oscar-winning Hollywood royalty doesn’t mean Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas’ children missed out on the hallowed and oh-so-British rite of passage that is staying in a chain holiday park in the summer. In a new interview with Radio Times, the Chicago star shared that while she was raising her two children, 24-year-old Dylan and 22-year-old Carys, she wanted them to spend time every summer with their grandparents in Wales – something she claims she’s still insistent on today.“I’m adamant that they go back to Wales every year to be with their grandparents for two weeks,” she explained, claiming that when they arrive it’s “Nana and Grampy’s rules.”Catherine continued: “They’ve been to Butlin’s, Legoland, seen the sights in London, up to Scotland, over to Ireland. They’ve even been to the Isle of Man, I think.”Catherine Zeta-Jones with her son and daughter at a Royal Welsh College Of Music & Drama gala in 2019Of her approach to parenting, Catherine said: “As a parent, you guide them, you give them the best, broadest options, you don’t smother them, you put them into situations where you hope they see the reality of the world. And you hope they become good citizens of the planet.”Catherine and Michael originally raised their family in New York, but moved the family to Bermuda in 2009, so their son – who has dyslexia – could attend school there. The Welsh star is currently gearing up for the long-awaited return of the Netflix teen drama Wednesday, in which she plays the title character’s mother, the iconic Morticia Addams, a role previously played in various iterations by the likes of Carolyn Jones, Anjelica Huston, Daryl Hannah and Charlize Theron.“The scenes we play together are like magic,” she told Radio Times of her co-stars Jenna Ortega and Joanna Lumley, who joins the cast as Grandmama Hester Frump. “Jenna brings her A-game and Joanna and I bring ours. We wanted to show the truth of the relationships and keep them as real as possible.”Read Catherine Zeta-Jones’ full interview in the latest issue of Radio Times.READ MORE:Michael Douglas Reveals Why He's Chosen To Take A Step Back From ActingMichael Douglas Recalls Embarrassing Case Of Mistaken Identity At His Daughter's GraduationNetflix Announces Major Wednesday Update – And 1 Exciting Hint About It’s Future
