Colin Farrell Upset Tom Cruise When It Took 46 Takes For 1 Minority Report Line
Colin FarrellColin Farrell has described the worst day he’s ever had on a film set, during which it took him 46 takes to do a single line of dialogue. The Oscar nominee recently spoke to Stephen Colbert on his US talk show to promote his new Netflix movie Ballad Of A Small Player, when he described the unfortunate scene that played out when he was filming Minority Report back in the early 2000s.“It was my birthday and I begged production of a $130 million film if they would not have me working,” Colin laughed. Unfortunately for him, his birthday day off wasn’t granted, and instead he was given a 6.30am pick up time, which was disastrous given the fact he’d been out all night “up to all sorts of nonsense”.“As soon as I turned off the light the phone rang and it was the driver outside who said ‘It’s ten past six’, and I went ‘Oh shit’,” he remembered. Colin did make it to set, but despite an assistant director suggesting he was in no state to be working, the actor requested “six Pacifico Cervezas [beers] and a pack of 20 Marlboro Reds” and got on with it. “It’s not cool because two years later I went to rehab, but it worked in the moment,” he said. “I had a couple of beers and went on set.”He continued: “I’ll never forget the line I had that I couldn’t get out. It was: ‘I’m sure you’ve all grasped the fundamental paradox of precrime methodology.’ That was the line that started the scene.”Colin’s co-star just so happened to be Tom Cruise, and after 46 takes to nail the line, he admitted: “Tom wasn’t very happy with me.”Luckily, Colin’s career wasn’t defined by the slip, and he’s gone on to enjoy an illustrious career, recently winning a Golden Globe, SAG Award and Critics’ Choice Award for his performance in The Penguin.MORE FILM NEWS:Thought The Stars Of Ballad Of A Small Player Looked Familiar?
