Dolly Parton Weighs In On Whether We Can Expect An Appearance From Her At Beyoncé's Cowboy Carter Tour
Dolly Parton isn’t ruling out a potential stop by Beyoncé’s ongoing Cowboy Carter Tour. “You never know ― anything is possible! Because she really is doing great with that [tour],” Dolly said during an interview with HuffPost on Wednesday about her new line of frozen foods. The country music icon added that she “loved” Beyoncé’s Grammy-winning country album, and explained why she found the singer’s rendition of Jolene – Dolly’s classic country song from 1973 – so “amusing”. “I was very honoured that she wanted to do her version of Jolene,” Dolly said. “That’s all a great compliment to me, when somebody wants to do my songs in any version.” “I was very amused by her take on that, and I got a big kick out of that,” she said of Beyoncé’s new lyrics in her twist on the ballad.“She’s not gonna sit back and say, ‘Oh please don’t take my man.’ She’s gonna kick some ass!” Beyoncé and Dolly PartonWhile Dolly was willing to open up about Jolene, there’s one song the 9 To 5 singer still can’t talk about – a secret song, buried in a vault in Dollywood. The original track, which is buried in a time capsule at Dolly’s Dollywood DreamMore resort, won’t be released until 2045. “It’s not supposed to be open ’til I’ll be 100... which... that’s the day after tomorrow,” Dolly joked.“So I’m not supposed to say what it is, and who knows, I may be there to sing it,” the singer shared, though she said there’s no chance “they’ll let me dig it up” right now. “I’ve wanted to say to them a time or two, ‘That song was so good! Can I just put another song in there? Can I dig that one up? Put something else?’” she said. “I thought, ‘No, that’s just a deal we made, and we’ll see.’”Dolly Parton poses for a portrait at Dollywood in 1988“Some of you will be around!” Dolly said of the future release of the song, which she said “had a lot of meaning” to her.“I thought very long and hard about what it should be saying, at that time,” she said.“So, if there’s a way of playing it with the web music, and everything changes now, then I guess you’ll hear it then. If it’s disintegrated or something, then I guess you’ll know that I meant well.” READ MORE:Dolly Parton Reveals She’s Going To ‘Rub Elbows With The Royalty’ This AutumnDolly Parton Shares How She's Surprised Herself After Husband Carl Dean's DeathDolly Parton Had This 1 Big Rule For Sabrina Carpenter Before Recording Their Duet
