Donald Trump Just Repeated His Favourite Piece Of Kremlin Propaganda About The Ukraine War

(AP Photo/Julia Demaree Nikhinson)Donald Trump once again repeated his favourite Kremlin talking point as the prospects of ending the war in Ukraine seem as far away as ever.The US president suggested that Kyiv had started the war, which began with Russia’s invasion of its neighbour more than three-and-a-half years ago.Speaking in the White House, Trump said Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zalenskyy was “always looking to purchase missiles” from America.He said: “Listen, when you start a war, you gotta know you can win a war. You don’t start a war against somebody that’s 20 times your size and then hope that people give you some missiles.”Trump on President Zelensky: “He's always looking to purchase missiles. It’s a much bigger nation. You don’t do that. You don’t take on a nation that’s 10 times your size.”Former Tory defence secretary Ben Wallace accused Trump of siding with Russian president Vladimir Putin after he claimed it was “Biden and Zelesnkyy’s war”.He also demanded Nato members slap import tariffs of up to 100% on Chinese exports, which would only be lifted after the conflict is over.Wallace said: “Trump never had any intention of making Putin do anything. It was obvious from day 1 but the [Foreign Office], as ever, were trying to deal with a world as they wish it would be rather than how it actually is.
