Finally Agreed On A Baby Name? Meghan Markle Warns Not To Make This 1 Mistake
Meghan Markle (Photo by Richard Shotwell/Invision/AP)Meghan Markle has shared a sage piece of advice for people expecting a baby – and it all centres around avoiding other people’s unsolicited opinions. In the final episode of her podcast Confessions Of A Female Founder, the Duchess of Sussex chatted to Sara Blakely, who founded Spanx, about setting up a business alongside being a mum.Discussing the process of naming a company, the Duchess likened starting a brand to a “SurveyMonkey”, and then dropped a bit of unexpected baby name advice. She said: “I will say this to every woman in the world or every person in the world who’s going to have a child.“If you have an idea about what you are going to name that baby, you keep it so close to your heart, until that baby is born and it’s named.”Meghan added: “Don’t ask anyone’s opinion.” Her comments come after a recent survey found one in five grandparents hates (or has hated) their grandchild’s name. The survey also revealed 69% think it’s OK to share their unsolicited opinions on their grandchild’s name.Meghan and Prince Harry share two children: Archie Harrison, who is six years old, and Lilibet Diana, who is three.Where did the name Archie come from?Meghan and Harry previously opened up about the meaning of their charitable foundation Archewell – which is named after their son.In a statement, they said “Arche” comes from the Greek word meaning “source of action”.“We connected to this concept for the charitable organisation we hoped to build one day, and it became the inspiration for our son’s name,” they said.“To do something of meaning, to do something that matters. Archewell is a name that combines an ancient word for strength and action, and another that evokes the deep resources we each must draw upon.”In Finding Freedom, a biography of the couple by Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand, the authors said Harry and Meghan wanted to choose a name for their son that was “traditional” yet also “powerful”, the Mail Online reported.“Archie, meaning strength and bravery, fit the bill,” the authors wrote.Meanwhile, Archie’s middle name, Harrison, means “son of Harry” – which speaks for itself. What about Lilibet?Lilibet was the nickname of Harry’s grandmother (Lilibet and Archie’s great-grandmother), Queen Elizabeth II. According to the BBC, the name came about when the late-Queen was a toddler and would mispronounce her own name. It stuck, and her grandfather King George V called her by the sweet moniker, as did her husband, Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh.Lilibet’s middle name, Diana, is a nod to Harry’s late-mum Diana, Princess of Wales, who tragically died in a car accident in 1997.While her children remain largely out of the spotlight, Meghan offers glimpses of their life on her Instagram page. Most recently, she shared a clip of her and Lilibet holding hands and wearing matching beekeeping outfits to “harvest honey” together. You can listen to Confessions of a Female Founder here.Related...Gwyneth Paltrow Sets The Record Straight On Where Her Friendship Stands With Meghan MarkleAs Prince Archie Turns 6, Meghan Markle Has 1 Question All Parents Can Relate ToHarry And Meghan Say 'Enough Is Not Being Done' To Protect Kids Online
