Hacks Season 5: New Episodes Of Emmy-Winning Comedy Are Confirmed
Hannah Einbinder and Jean Smart in HacksWith just one episode to go on the current season of Hacks, it’s been announced that the comedy will be returning for a fifth run.Creator Paul W Downs – who also plays Jimmy LuSaque, Deborah and Ava’s hapless manager in the hit series – said in a statement on Wednesday: “We feel so lucky that we get to do a fifth season of comedy.“We’re like, it shouldn’t be this way, but we feel really fortunate because it’s so rare. We feel incredibly lucky.”There’s no official word yet on exactly when we can expect season five of Hacks to air, though in the past, the show has tended to release new episodes every year, meaning we can probably expect it in 2026.However, the news isn’t necessarily all good, as it’s also worth pointing out that Paul previously told The Hollywood Reporter that he intended Hacks to come to an end after its fifth season.“We pitched the very last scene in the very last episode when we were pitching the show, and we’ve always had a pretty clear vision of what the tentpoles of each season would be,” he claimed last year, adding that five seasons “would be ideal” for what he’s planned out.Paul W Downs as Jimmy in HacksIn the Hacks announcement, there’s no mention of it being the last season, so time will tell whether this turns out to be the case…Hacks centres around a veteran comedian (Deborah Vance, played by Jean Smart) who is paired up with a younger writer (Ava Daniels, Hannah Einbinder’s character) in an attempt to modernise her Las Vegas stand-up act and revitalise her career. While the pair initially butt heads, they eventually find common ground – although anyone who’s followed the show over the last four seasons will know the road hasn’t exactly been smooth.Initially, Hacks was a hard one to watch in the UK – early seasons eventually made their way onto Prime Video here, before it finally found a new home on Now earlier this year, where it’s currently airing weekly.Since its premiere, Hacks has been a critical smash, with Jean Smart scooping three consecutive Emmy wins for her performance, as well as acting nods for cast members Hannah Einbinder, Carl Clemons-Hopkins and Paul W. Downs.Hacks’ season four finale will premiere on Now on Friday 30 May in the UK.MORE TV NEWS:'I Always Hated That': Cynthia Nixon Says This Part Of Sex And The City Has 'Really Not Aged Well'The Last Of Us Creators Weigh In On That Gripping Season 2 Finale Cliffhanger EndingThere's Good News And Bad News For Anyone Hoping For A Season 2 Of Sirens
