Harper Beckham Gives David A Makeover – But All Anyone Can Talk About Is The Word 'Daddy'
Harper and David Beckham (Scott Garfitt/Invision/AP)Fans of the Beckhams are fiercely debating whether it’s acceptable for David to still be referred to as “daddy” by his children as they get older. In a recent video shared to Victoria’s TikTok, their youngest child Harper, who is 13, could be seen expertly applying makeup to her footballer father’s face.“OK, so Harper is putting some makeup on daddy,” Victoria said in the clip.“Looking gorgeous. How does that brush feel?” she then asked David, who was clearly enjoying the makeover and appeared very relaxed. After being prompted a second time, he responded: “Soft.”“Good answer,” laughed his wife, while Harper could be heard chuckling at his short response. Harper then applied concealer to cover up David’s “sun spots”, while Victoria narrated what she was doing.“Now she’s buffing in the contour,” said the former Spice Girl, before her daughter politely corrected her, whispering “concealer”.“Come on mum, get it right,” David quipped.@victoriabeckhamSunday afternoon makeup with Harper 😂😂 Kisses @David Beckham xx♬ original sound - Victoria Beckham StoreThe video has already been viewed 1.3 million times. However, a quick scroll through the comments section suggests some fans are taking issue with the fact Victoria referred to David as “daddy”.One commenter said Harper is “putting make up on her dad.... not daddy” and another said: “Putting some makeup on daddy... sorry but my skin hasn’t stopped creeping yet.”Another fan suggested “it’s a bit odd” to say “daddy” at the age of 13 (although it was actually Victoria that said it, not Harper). But there were plenty of people who couldn’t understand why there would be a cut-off point for using the term. One person said they’re 26 and call their father “daddy”, another said their 90-year-old dad still refers to his late-father as “daddy”. They added: “I don’t get the problem.”Another TikTok user wrote: “Our daughters are in their 30s & still call their dad daddy. he’s the safe place he’s the one that will always protect them with no conditions.”“It’s so sad how so many people are offended by the word Daddy,” someone else added. The “daddy” debate is very much a thing in the UK (see this Mumsnet thread if you don’t believe me) – and people are as divided on it as they are the order of jam and cream on scones.“Daddy” can be used in a sexual way, which might be why some people take umbrage with it. In gay culture, “daddy” can be used to describe older men who date younger men.Others simply suggest it’s “babyish” to use it as you get older – and bullies in particular might pick up on it. Personally, I don’t think it’s fair for us to be setting age limits on it. Harper might not even call David “daddy” (it was Victoria who referred to him by that name) – but even if she does, and continues to do so into adulthood, that should be up to her and no one else. Related...David Beckham Sends Sweet Message To Son Brooklyn Amid Family 'Feud' RumoursDavid Beckham Makes Cheeky Instagram Post About Victoria's Reaction To Watching FootballDavid Beckham Makes Emotional Admission About How He Really Feels Now His Sons Have Moved Out
