Matthew Macfadyen on Sunday With Laura Kuenssberg over the weekendJack Lowden is already looking ahead to his upcoming stint in the new Netflix adaptation of Pride & Prejudice.Earlier this month, it was announced that the Slow Horses star will be playing Mr Darcy in a new TV series based on the Jane Austen classic, opposite Emma Corrin as Elizabeth Bennet. The character of Mr Darcy has already been portrayed on screen numerous times, most notably by Colin Firth and Matthew Macfadyen, and during an appearance on Sunday’s edition of Laura Kuenssberg’s BBC show, the host asked how Jack is planning to “do it differently”.“I quite like the idea of being a ginger Darcy,” the Scottish actor quipped. “I think that that’s really breaking down barriers. One of the great last barriers to be broken down.”Jack added: “I quite like the idea of sort of me coming along and doing something else with it.”“Or just copying one of them,” he joked. “Because some of the guys that have played it are amongst some of the best.“I mean, Matthew Macfadyen, to me, is one of the best actors on the planet. So, if I just try and copy him… maybe that’s alright, as well?”“But ginger?” his The Fifth Step co-star Martin Freeman suggested, to which he responded: “But ginger! Yeah, change it up.”View this post on InstagramA post shared by BBC News (@bbcnews)As for whether fans of the original Pride & Prejudice TV adaptation have any more “splashing around in a lake”, Jack admitted: “I don’t know!
