JD Vance Is Planning To Get Very Involved In The Epstein Controversy
Jeffrey Epstein and JD VanceVice President JD Vance plans to host several Trump administration officials at his official residence on Wednesday evening to craft a unified response to the Jeffrey Epstein controversy that continues to create challenges for the president, according to news reports. The dinner, first reported by CNN, will be attended by Attorney General Pam Bondi, Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche, FBI Director Kash Patel and White House chief of staff Susie Wiles. The meeting comes as the Trump administration is reportedly weighing whether to release an audio recording and transcript of Blanche’s interview with Epstein accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell, who is currently serving a 20-year sentence for sex trafficking a minor, as soon as this week. The Justice Department had described their sit-down over the course of two consecutive days last month as an effort to get more information about the disgraced financier to the public.Trump defended Blanche’s lengthy meetings with Maxwell on Tuesday and suggested he knew nothing about the contents of their discussion.“I didn’t talk to him about it, but I will tell you that whatever he asked would be totally appropriate, and it’s not an uncommon thing to do that,” Trump said of Blanche, who was one of his personal lawyers prior to joining the DOJ.Maxwell did not share any information that would be harmful to Trump during her chat with Blanche, claiming she had never witnessed Trump doing anything that would have caused concern, sources familiar with the British socialite’s comments told ABC News.Since meeting with Blanche, Maxwell has been moved to a minimum-security facility in Bryan, Texas, with no explanation from the White House, fueling more speculation about what may have prompted the decision. Trump claimed he had no idea why Maxwell was moved.“I didn’t know about it at all,” he told reporters. “I read about it just like you did.”Maxwell has also sought to block the release of grand jury transcripts in the prosecutions of Epstein and herself. The family of one of Epstein’s most prominent accusers, Virginia Giuffre, issued a statement in response to reports of the meeting at Vance’s residence, noting that the vice president’s guest list did not include any survivors of Epstein’s abuse. Giuffre died by suicide earlier this year.“Missing from this group is, of course, any survivor of the vicious crimes of convicted perjurer and sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell and Jeffrey Epstein,” their statement reads. “Their voices must be heard, above all.”Meanwhile, in Congress on Tuesday, the House Oversight Committee demanded the DOJ turn over its files on Epstein, while also issuing subpoenas for former first couple Bill and Hillary Clinton and former DOJ officials. The panel, however, did not seek testimony from former Labor Secretary Alex Acosta, who struck a controversial plea deal with Epstein during his time as US Attorney for the Southern District of Florida.Related...Protesters Warn JD Vance They Will Disrupt His Family Holiday To The UKJD Vance Wonders If Other VPs Had This Much 'Excitement' — Social Media Says, ‘Ask Mike Pence’JD Vance Hints He's OK With Deporting Menswear Writer Who Mocks His Attire
