Johnny Vaughan Publicly Apologises To Denise Van Outen Over Past Fall-Out

Johnny Vaughan and Denise Van Outen on the set of The Big Breakfast in 1997Johnny Vaughan has issued a public apology to his former Big Breakfast co-host Denise Van Outen over their past beef.The pair fronted The Big Breakfast together in the ’90s, but their off-screen friendship soured when Denise discovered Johnny had been renegotiating his contract without telling her.Shedding light on their fall-out, Denise told Loose Women in 2017 that the rift was “mainly to do with pay”.“At that particular time, we were literally like brother and sister, we were best friends, unbreakable,” she recalled.“The whole relationship fell apart when we started to renegotiate our contracts because I always felt that we worked together as a team and that is how it should be.”Fortunately, in 2021, the West End performer shared that she and Johnny had healed their previously “rocky” relationship after getting back in touch with one another during lockdown.Asked by Metro if he had “any regrets” about the way things played out between himself and Denise, Johnny responded: “She might have fallen out with me, but I never fell out with her. I just love Denise, won’t hear a word against her.“Sometimes you don’t spot things, which is me being maybe insensitive, and I really apologise to her for that.”Johnny Vaughan on Lorraine in 2023Having moved on from their past rift, Johnny and Denise have gone on to appear on screen together numerous times over the last few years, including on Celebrity Gogglebox and an episode of the now-defunct Channel 4 daytime show Steph’s Packed Lunch.“I see her quite a bit, speak to her most weeks still,” Johnny added to Metro. “No matter how we’ve fallen out, she’s always been there for me, and I hope she feels I’ve always been there for her.”Denise told The Mirror in 2021: “We’ve messaged a lot in lockdown.
