Julian McMahon, Nip/Tuck And Charmed Star, Dies At 56

Julian McMahon pictured in 2016Julian McMahon, best known for his roles in the TV shows Nip/Tuck and Charmed, has died following a private battle with cancer. He was 56.The Australian-American star’s wife, Kelly McMahon, confirmed his death in a statement to Deadline. Kelly told the outlet on Friday that Julian had died peacefully in Clearwater, Florida on 2 July. “With an open heart, I wish to share with the world that my beloved husband, Julian McMahon, died peacefully this week after a valiant effort to overcome cancer,” she said in the statement.Kelly, who tied the knot with the CBS’ FBI: Most Wanted actor in 2014, went on to tell the outlet that her late husband was a man who “loved life”.“He loved his family. He loved his friends. He loved his work, and he loved his fans. His deepest wish was to bring joy into as many lives as possible,” she continued.“We ask for support during this time to allow our family to grieve in privacy. And we wish for all of those to whom Julian brought joy, to continue to find joy in life. We are grateful for the memories.”Julian notably starred as scientist turned supervillain, Dr. Doom, in 2005’s Fantastic Four and its 2007 sequel, Fantastic Four: Rise Of The Silver Surfer.He also played Dr. Christian Troy on the TV series Nip/Tuck, which earned him a Golden Globe nomination in 2004, and Cole Turner on Charmed during his nearly 40-year acting career. In addition to these roles Julian played Jess LaCroix in FBI and its various spin-offs, and Jonah in the Marvel series Runaways.Most recently, Julian appeared as fictional Australian prime minister Stephen Roos in the Netflix mystery series The Residence – which premiered on the platform in March 2025 – alongside Uzo Aduba, Giancarlo Esposito and Jason Lee.
