Kim Cattrall on the set of Sex And The City 2Kim Cattrall has admitted her own “self-inflicted ageism” initially led to her turning down the role of Samantha Jones before finally relenting.In a new interview with The Times, the five-time Emmy nominee reflected on her career, including the six seasons she played Samantha in Sex And The City.She claimed she originally turned down the role on four different occasions, claiming that, in her early 40s, she wasn’t convinced audiences would accept her playing such a sexual character.“Well, that changed – 40 became sexy,” she said. “It became, ‘Man, let’s have more of that’.”Looking back at her time playing Samantha, the Canadian star said: “She wasn’t a nymphomaniac – well, some people might have thought she was – but she was just enjoying the main course. Everyone else was nibbling on the appetisers when she was going for the steak.
