Kristin Davis Recalls Once Being 'Set Up' On A Date With The Late Matthew Perry

Kristin Davis and Matthew PerryKristin Davis is recalling once being “set up” with Matthew Perry years before she found success on Sex And The City. The And Just Like That actor recalled on Monday’s episode of her podcast Are You A Charlotte? that an attorney friend of hers had arranged for her to meet the late Friends actor, who died in 2023, at a “low-key” dinner party in the late ’90s. By this point, Matthew was already starring as Chandler Bing in Friends.Though Kristin didn’t specify exactly when the date with Matthew took place, she explained that it happened between when she starred in Melrose Place from 1995 to 1996, and Sex And The City, which aired from 1998 to 2004. “So I go to this dinner party, I bring my little flowers,” she told her guest Brian Van Holt. “You know, it’s a bunch of Hollywood people. I don’t even know who all was there other than this lawyer and Matthew.” While the pair ultimately never formed a romantic relationship following their date, Kristin still gushed over how “lovely” Matthew was. “He sits next to me, and he’s talking about how thrilled he is, how happy they are on the set at Friends,” she said. “I was like, ‘Wow, he’s so happy’.”Kristin went on to admit that Matthew’s cheerful demeanour about his acting career, which was at its height at the time, was a stark difference from her own experience filming Melrose Place.“I had been around Melrose, and it wasn’t the happiest place in a way,” Kristin admitted said. “It was stress-y. There were 15 series regulars. Everyone had the feeling they might get cut. It was kind of competitive and stress-y.”“So I was like, ‘Wow, that’s amazing, you’re so happy,’” she added of Matthew’s joy on the set of Friends.Kristin would go on to make an appearance in Friends herself in 2000, playing a love interest of Matt LeBlanc’s character.Matthew, who struggled with alcoholism and opioid addiction for years, was found dead in a jacuzzi at his Los Angeles-area home in October 2023. He died from the “acute effects of ketamine” according to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner.Though Matthew’s death was ruled accidental, five people, including two doctors, were charged last year in connection to the overdose death. Listen to Kristin Davis’ Are You A Charlotte? podcast here.Addiction help and support:If you need help with a drinking problem, call the Alcoholics Anonymous national helpline for free on 0800 9177 650 or email [email protected] advice on how to reduce drinking, visit Drinkaware’s website or Alcohol Change UK.Find alcohol addiction services near you using this NHS tool.Contact FRANK on 0300 123 6600 or visit the website for alternative contact methods.Help and supportREAD MORE:Jennifer Aniston Makes Emotional Admission About Grieving Matthew PerryLisa Kudrow Opens Up About Recently Discovering Hand-Written Note From Matthew PerryDavid Schwimmer Reveals Why He Was 'Surprised' To Hear That Matthew Perry Once Complimented His Skills
