Lewis Capaldi Describes Glastonbury As 'Best Day' Of His Life (Over 'Having A Child')

Lewis Capaldi performs during Glastonbury 2025Lewis Capaldi’s recent return to Glastonbury, where he played the iconic Pyramid stage, left fans emotional – after all, it followed a tricky Glastonbury act from the singer in 2023, which led him to take an extended break to “spend much more time getting my mental and physical health in order.” Though fans suspected Lewis was likely to take to the stage before the “surprise” appearance happened, the Glasto rendition of his classic songs and new song Survive has been dubbed “triumphant.” It also came ahead of the artist’s upcoming UK and Ireland and Australia arena tours. So perhaps it was no surprise that, on a recent episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the host quizzed Lewis on the hit show. But in typical tongue-in-cheek fashion, the Someone You Loved singer’s response was pretty unexpected.View this post on InstagramA post shared by Lewis Capaldi (@lewiscapaldi)When asked by host Jimmy Fallon how the experience felt, Lewis admitted it was “terrifying.” “In the lead up to it, I was like, ‘This is horrific. I made a terrible decision,’” he added. “And then we went out... and it was really beautiful and lovely, and it went exactly as I’d hoped. And it was, um, yeah, probably the best day of my life.” After the audience finished their applause, the Grammy winner joked: “Until... I assume when I have a child, I’ll be like, ‘Well, maybe Glastonbury was still better.’” Speaking of his first Glasto run on the show, the singer – who, let the records show, does not in fact have any babies to offend with his quip – added he had a “bit of a menty b” (mental breakdown) in the 2023 festival. “I have Tourette’s,” Lewis added, “so I used to tic quite a lot... it became really uncontrollable and I had a panic attack.” “I think ’cause this [panic attack] was so publicised, and there were so many eyes on it, it really made me think, ‘Oh, God, I need to actually go... and get myself sorted.’” Fans, including Jimmy himself, who admitted his “love” for Lewis, seem as glad as the star appears to see his return.
