Lewis Capaldi performing at Glastonbury on SaturdayLewis Capaldi enjoyed a triumphant return to music last month, but he’s also been reflecting on how different things were just two years ago.The Scottish singer-songwriter delivered a highly emotional performance on Glastonbury’s Pyramid Stage just a few weeks ago after taking a break from touring to focus on his mental health. With fans already suspecting that the Someone You Loved would be making an appearance on Worthy Farm this year, festival-goers immediately welcomed him back with open arms.the Before You Go singer has since sold out his recently announced UK and Ireland tour and called his Glastonbury comeback “probably the best day of my life”.But just two years ago, the artist was dealing with challenging mental health issues.Lewis visibly struggled with parts of his set at the same festival in 2023 due to vocal issues and Tourette’s tics, with the crowd stepping in to help sing the lyrics for him.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o_B5vful8KQ“When it happened and when it was happening, it was, like, the lowest moment of my life, and it was horrible,” he said while speaking on Theo Von’s This Past Weekend podcast.“Because Glastonbury is such a big stage, it was the first time people outside my shows had seen it. At Glastonbury, when I came off stage, it was weird, I had this [feeling], ‘everything’s alright now, I can actually go and get help and fix myself for the next two years’.”https://www.instagram.com/p/DLaWvgUsEoS/He continued that, “in a weird way, it’s probably the best thing that’s ever happened to me. I wouldn’t have stopped otherwise”.Lewis then revealed that Glastonbury 2023 was “really important” and “maybe the most important day in my life”, because it prompted him to seek the help he needed.“Someone upstairs was like, ‘this has to happen now otherwise…’,” he went on. “I don’t want to think of where I would be now if I’d continued. We were meant to go to Australia. It could have been really, really horrible. I dread to think what would have happened.”The Grammy nominee also recalled an even worse episode during a show in Chicago a few weeks before Glastonbury. “I couldn’t come back on stage and finish the song,” he said. “I was like, backstage, convulsing and having this crazy panic attack, mental episode. It was really, really bad. It was the first time people at my shows had seen it.”Alongside his return to the stage, the singer came back with his emotive new single Survive, which he performed on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon this week.Related...Lewis Capaldi Opened Up About Anti-Psychotics: I’m Ready To Say They Changed My Life, TooLewis Capaldi Describes Glastonbury As 'Best Day' Of His Life (Over 'Having A Child')'I'm F***ing Back, Baby': Lewis Capaldi Has Another Huge Announcement After Glastonbury Triumph
