Richard Tice Collides With Sky Presenter Over Farage's Views On Russia In Car Crash Interview
Richard Tice and Trevor PhillipsTrevor Phillips clashed with Richard Tice repeatedly on Sky News this morning over Nigel Farage’s relationship with Russia.Keir Starmer went to Ukraine yesterday with other western allies to demand Vladimir Putin agrees to a 30-day ceasefire in what might end up being a turning point for the war.Reform UK leader Farage, meanwhile, has faced intense scrutiny for saying in 2014 that he admired Putin “as an operator, but not as a human being”.He has also claimed the west provoked Russia’s invasion by expanding the EU and Nato eastwards. So presenter Phillips asked Reform’s deputy leader if Farage would have travelled to Ukraine to help and negotiate a ceasefire – only for Tice to avoid the question. He said: “The important thing is you recognise that prime minister Farage is a possibility.”“No, no, no no –” Phillips said.Tice said: “Nigel, like all of us, wants peace, we want a ceasefire that get us to a lasting peace with strong security guarantees, and frankly anything that world leaders can do to get towards that difficult goal, including whatever difficult compromises, is welcome. We all know it’s difficult. That is the reality. But we must always be trying, together.”Phillips said: “Let me ask you a different way – does Nigel Farage still think the west provoked Russia’s invasion and that Vladimir Putin is a man he admires?”“No, of course he doesn’t think that!” Tice replied.“Well that’s what he said!” Phillips said.“The reality is that mistakes have been made along the way,” Tice said. When the presenter tried to respond, Tice cut in: “Trevor. Trevor. Ask me questions, let me answer.”Looking at him in disbelief, Phillips said: “Richard. Richard. He said! He said that!”“We all want this,” Tice insisted. “Putin is an evil aggressor who has to be stopped. What world leaders are trying to do is get to a lasting ceasefire, and we should welcome that.”Phillips hit back: “You’re doing what you always try to do to me and that is answer your own question – has he changed his mind about Putin being a man that he admires?”Tice said Farage is “crystal clear” that Putin is the aggressor.#TrevorPhillips: Does Nigel Farage still think that the west provoked the Russian invasion of Ukraine & does he still admire Putin? Richard Tice(Reform MP): "No, of course he doesn't... Farage is crystal clear that Putin is the aggressor." 👀#bbclaurakpic.twitter.com/GSCT7JThBU— Haggis_UK 🇬🇧 🇪🇺 (@Haggis_UK) May 11, 2025As the interview moved onto Labour’s latest migration crackdown, Phillips tried to ask him how Reform UK would increase deportations – but the two clashed once again. As the presenter pushed for exactly how they would do that, Tice raised his voice and said: “It can’t be any simpler Trevor than remove people who are here illegally!”“How are you going to do that?” Phillips pushed. “Maybe we should fire the whole bunch of incompetent people in the Home Office who are not doing their job correctly, OK? It’s as simple as that.“You’ve asked me, I’ll answer it for a third time: we will remove people who are here illegally and we will remove foreign criminals from our jails. I hope that is crystal clear.”Related...Reform UK's Richard Tice Torn Apart On BBC Question Time Over Brexit: 'We've Been Duped'Reform's Richard Tice Was Asked What The Party Has Achieved In Local Government – And Couldn't AnswerRichard Tice Says Nigel Farage Is 'Rock Solid Behind Ukraine' But The Facts Say Otherwise
