I’ve been visible. I don’t think I’ve been seen yet.”View this post on InstagramA post shared by Them (@them)Responding to Airyn’s interview on Wednesday, her two-time Oscar-winning dad told Variety: “I loved and supported Aaron as my son, and now I love and support Airyn as my daughter.”He added: “I don’t know what the big deal is. I love all my children.”The Taxi Driver actor is a father of seven children. He shares two adult children, Drena and Raphael, with his first wife, Diahnne Abbott, and later fathered twins Julian and Airyn with the actor Toukie Smith. He and his second wife Grace Hightower are also parents to a daughter and son, Helen and Elliot, and he welcomed the most recent addition to his family, Gia, in 2023.Gia’s mother is Robert’s current partner, the martial arts instructor Tiffany Chen.Elsewhere in her Them interview, Airyn spoke of her hopes to pursue acting in the future.“Obviously no parent is perfect, but I am grateful that both my parents agreed to keep me out of the limelight,” she explained. “They wanted it very private. They have told me they wanted me to have as much of a normal childhood as possible.”She later said: “I wasn’t brought up having a side part in one of dad’s movies or going to business meetings or attending premieres. My dad was very big on us finding our own sort of path.“I would want [success] to happen on my own merit.”Airyn posted on Instagram after her interview was published: “Thank you to everyone who’s been so sweet and supportive! I’m not used to all these eyes on me.“Also for the folks asking if I have representation or signed to anyone, I am literally just a girl with a phone so sorry if I miss your messages!”Help and support: The Gender Trust supports anyone affected by gender identity | 01527 894 838Mermaids offers information, support, friendship and shared experiences for young people with gender identity issues | 0208 1234819LGBT Youth Scotland is the largest youth and community-based organisation for LGBT people in Scotland.
