Stevie Wonder Had The Perfect Response To Rumours That He’s Not Really Blind

Stevie Wonder, here at the 2025 Met Gala in May, gracefully addressed rumors about his sight during a concert in Cardiff, Wales.Stevie Wonder has responded to longstanding rumours that he is not actually blind.The music icon and Motown legend has been in the industry for over six decades at this point, but throughout the years listeners have tossed around the theory (sometimes half-jokingly) that he can in fact see.However, during the Cardiff stop on his Love, Light & Song UK tour, the Superstition singer took the opportunity to dispel the speculation. “I must say to all of you, something that I was thinking, ‘When did I want to let the world know this?’ But I wanted to say it right now. You know there have been rumours about me seeing and all that?” he said to laughs from the crowd, as shown in fan footage. “But seriously, you know the truth.”“Truth is, shortly after my birth, I became blind,” he continued. “Now, that was a blessing because it’s allowed me to see the world in the vision of truth, of sight. See people in the spirit of them, not how they look. Not what colour they are, but what colour is their spirit?”This isn’t the first time the Signed, Sealed, Delivered artist has riffed on the long-standing conspiracy theory, joking back in 2017 to TMZ that he would “reveal the truth” about his sight.Stevie has been running through the classics on his recent tour, performing songs like My Cherie Amour, I Just Called to Say I Love You and Isn’t She Lovely.Last year, Beyoncé revealed that the music legend had a secret contribution to her new album Cowboy Carter.While accepting the Innovator Award at the iHeart Radio Music Awards, she revealed that Stevie played harmonica on her cover of Dolly Parton’s Jolene.As he presented her with the award, she said: “Thank you so much, Stevie. I love you. I love you and I honour you.
