Strictly Come Dancing Cocaine Allegations Spark Police Investigation
Strictly Come Dancing is once again back in the headlinesReports of cocaine use behind the scenes of Strictly Come Dancing have now led to a police investigation.Earlier this month, The Sun published an article claiming the BBC was launching an internal probe into allegations that two undisclosed stars from last year’s series had taken the class A drug.At the time, a spokesperson for the show said: “We have clear protocols and policies in place for dealing with any serious complaint raised with us.“We would always encourage people to speak to us if they have concerns. It would not be appropriate for us to comment further.”On Sunday, BBC News reported that the matter was now being investigated by the police. In a statement, the Metropolitan Police said it had “received an allegation about drug-related offences”, and that officers have begun “assessing the information”.“Further enquiries are taking place to establish whether there is evidence of a criminal offence being committed,” they said. The Sun previously claimed that the allegations were first made “in a legal submission to the BBC in March” by a law firm representing former Strictly contestant Wynne Evans.Wynne – an opera performer best known for his work on Go Compare’s long-running ad campaign – took part in last year’s series, where he was partnered with Katya Jones.Wynne Evans in a photo shared by the BBC to promote his stint on Strictly Come Dancing last yearEarlier this year, he missed the final live shows on the official Strictly tour after taking “time out” from both the tour and his BBC radio show when he was recorded on camera making an “inappropriate and unacceptable” sexual joke at its launch.More recently, Wynne claimed that his comment had been taken out of context, and accused the BBC of issuing an apology on his behalf without his approval (the BBC has refuted this, insisting the statement was “fully approved by Wynne”).The next season of Strictly is due to get underway next month, with the 15 celebrities on the line-up having been announced one-by-one last week.MORE STRICTLY:The Cast Of Strictly Come Dancing 2025 Is Now Complete – Here Are All The Stars On The Line-UpStrictly Come Dancing's Latest Signing Could Well Be About To Ruffle Some FeathersStrictly Pro Nadiya Bychkova Speaks Out After 'Really Scary' Rehearsal Accident Leads To Hospital Dash
