The Holiday Director Reacts To TV Reboot Reports And It's Not What We Want To Hear

Jude Law and Cameron Diaz on the set of The HolidayIf this rumoured TV adaptation of The Holiday really is happening, it seems no one told the woman behind the original film.Last week, Deadline reported that Apple TV+ was looking to turn the cosy rom-com into a miniseries, which would “reboot the premise of the film with new characters”, introducing new British and American characters looking to swap homes over the festive season.However, posting on her Instagram story on Friday, filmmaker Nancy Meyers – a giant in the romantic comedy world, who previously helmed the likes of The Parent Trap, Something’s Gotta Give and Father Of The Bride, as well as The Holiday – claimed the reports were “news to me”.“Imagine my surprise when I opened Instagram and this was the first post I saw,” she wrote, alongside screenshots of a headline about the new TV version of the hit 2006 film.Was already annoyed at the idea of them rebooting The Holiday but to do so without the knowledge of Nancy Meyers is unconscionable and so disrespectful pic.twitter.com/5rcoYXi6MX— Abhiraj Lamba 🧣 (@abhirajl459) August 1, 2025Per Deadline, Apple’s version of The Holiday would be written and executive produced by Krissie Ducker, whose past work includes Killing Eve and Sweetpea.Krissie also worked as a writers assistant on Catastrophe and Motherland.The US outlet added that casting is now underway, with offers having reportedly been made to actors on both sides of the Atlantic already.Kate Winslet and Jack Black played Iris and Miles in the 2006 film The HolidayHuffPost UK has contacted Apple TV+ for comment.Towards the end of year, Nancy Meyers gave The Holiday fans an early Christmas present when she reunited with Jude Law at the unveiling of his star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame, recreating one of the film’s most iconic moments in an Instagram story video.Jude Law got a star on the Walk of Fame today.
