This New 'High-Stakes' Netflix Thriller Is A Must-Watch For Line Of Duty Fans

Richard Madden is set to reunite with Jed Mercurio for his new series TrinityJed Mercurio, the creator of hit dramas like Line Of Duty and Bodyguard, has an exciting new project in the works at Netflix.On Monday evening, the streaming giant announced that Jed’s “high-stakes” new show Trinity will be coming to the platform in the future.An official synopsis teases: “The eight-episode series follows a valiant naval officer whose newfound connection with the secretary of defense catapults her into a world of political intrigue.”So far, little is known about the show, other than that it will star Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Richard Madden.Gugu Mbatha-Raw has also joined the cast of Netflix's new show TrinityGugu is known for her work in series like Marvel’s Loki, Apple TV+’s The Morning Show and the BBC drama The Girl Before, as well as the much-loved Black Mirror episode San Junipero.Richard previously worked with Jed Mercurio in the global hit Bodyguard, having also starred in Game Of Thrones, Rocketman and Disney’s live-action remake of Cinderella.The announcement about Trinity comes after a string of British shows have proved to be hits on both sides of the Atlantic for Netflix.Since its premiere last year, Baby Reindeer won near-universal acclaim and cleaned up at the Golden Globes and Emmys, while in the past few months, Adolescence has become one of the most-watched shows in Netflix history.The service has also seen success with its adaptations of Harlan Coben mysteries like Fool Me Once and Missing You, both of which feature predominantly British casts.Jed Mercurio on the set of his show Trigger PointBesides Bodyguard and Line Of Duty, Jed has also executive produced British series like Bloodlands, Trigger Point and Stephen, based on the murder of Stephen Lawrence and his family’s fight for justice.Last year, Jed also co-wrote Breathtaking, a medical drama centred around NHS workers during the Covid pandemic.Speculation about whether a seventh season of Line Of Duty could be on the cards has been rife ever since the last series came to an end in 2021, though so far, there’s been no official word.MORE TV NEWS:Critics Are Saying Netflix's New Grenfell Documentary Is Both 'Urgent' And 'Heartwrenching'Adolescence Director Reveals What He Really Thinks Of That Viral Wallpaper TheoryDavid Harbour Gets Very Honest About Why It's A 'Relief' That Stranger Things Is Almost Done
